Growing through Community Connections

Connections with others whether in a learning, worship or social setting can help us all grow into our best selves.

Children in Worshipsmall child colouring during a worship service

We learn most by doing and by example. Children of all ages are welcome to remain in service with their parents/caregivers any time they choose. The first Sunday of each month we have Worship all together at 11:00 am. The remaining Sundays, everyone begins in the Sanctuary together at 11 am and our children’s exploration program runs from 11:15 to 12:15 after the Story for All Ages.

Buddy Bags, Mandala sheets, and pencil crayons are available as you enter the Sanctuary foyer for all those who engage best when hands are busy.  Please return the bag at the end of worship, the colouring book is yours to keep.

Sunday Children’s Groups

Our Children’s Program consists of two age groups (4-9; 10-12) and Toddler Watch (0-4). This year we are exploring the wisdom of world religions and how they relate to our Unitarian Universalist teachings. Classes are punctuated by special events, garden days, and fellowship with each other, youth, and adults.

Toddler Watch volunteer and staff members attend to babies and children under 4 within the Children’s Program. Look for the Children’s Guide with the bright orange button or check in with the Leader—bright pink button.

Youth

Young people have a lot to offer our church community, and we currently have a group of active, involved youth working with our dedicated youth advisors. Youth Group meets from 10:15 am to 12:00 on Sundays in the lower level of Hewett Centre–Hitschmanova room.

OWL Sexuality Program

O.W.L. is a comprehensive, sexuality education curriculum offered periodically across the life-span from young children to older adults. Each level is geared towards questions and concerns of that age. The growing up programs are designed to help children and youth make healthy and responsible decisions informed with facts and nuanced discussion.

Messy Church Potluck

Messy Church has become a beloved tradition over the past six years. The first Saturday of each month from 5 pm – 8 pm we meet to eat together, play, sing, create, and take-apart together. The child care room is staffed, so parents have an opportunity to relax and connect together while the kids play. Here are the dates.

Adult Programs

The congregation offers a variety of programs, some short-term and others ongoing. These are a good opportunity to get to know people outside of Sunday worship services. Small Groups organize around many different learning, spiritual, justice, social themes, and dinners. Various teams support the church in matters large and small from membership, art and music, to welcoming, and coffee service. There are many ways to connect, engage, and feed your soul.

If you have an idea for an adult program or learning topic that could use ministerial support, please contact our interim minister, Rev. Lara Cowtan.
