We’re happy for her, but sad for us: Jodie is moving to Salt Spring Island.
The Salt Spring Unitarians are already welcoming Jodie on their facebook group, so she’ll have a ready-made community to join there. She assures us she’ll be back fairly regularly and will keep in touch.
Jodie moved to Vancouver from the UK in 2016 and has since been sharing her knowledge of esoteric traditions in astrology, tarot and divinatory arts across the local community.
She has been attending various classes at UCV over the past year including Paganism 101, Wicca 101 and is a contributing member of the Earth Spirit Circle Monthly Gathering.
With one foot in the rational world and the other in the mystical, Jodie has a professional background in engineering and project management, as well as a Master’s degree in Myth, Cosmology and the Sacred from Canterbury Christ Church University and studying at the London Faculty of Astrological Studies.
“After travelling through India and being fully exposed to a living, vibrant world that embraces spirituality in day-to-day life, I returned to the UK with a severe headache. It became very important to me to understand why my western scientific education was blocking my heart from opening up to the sacred. To heal this divide, I joined the MA program which turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made; it provided me with a rational framework and an informed perspective on religion, mythology and spirituality.”
Jodie completed her thesis on ‘The Science of Magic’ to understand why we think the way we do, how modern scientific developments are contradicting this and to investigate theories that support a spiritual worldview including the work of Carl Jung, the role of the imagination, rational vs. non-rational ways of knowing and the power of symbol to bridge the brain’s left and right hemispheres.
