Janus: the God of Transitions

The Roman god Janus, the namesake of January, was the god of doors, gates, and transitions. Janus represented the middle ground between both concrete and abstract dualities, portrayed with two faces—one facing the past, and one facing the future.  How do we hold our balance in the liminal place at the centre of what was and what will become, where we were and where we are going?
