Join us for the presentation of the John Gibbard Memorial Award, given annually by the Vancouver Branch of the UN Association in Canada. Join Emilie K Adin, Director of Climate Action, Planning and Development at the City of New Westminster and Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia’s School of Community and Regional Planning.
Emilie will explore the value of city building as an act of building community, and as an act of social justice, despite that (as SFU City Program Director Andy Yan has said), “the profession of planning has been used as a bludgeon of colonialism.” What can restitution look like for planners? And what is your role, as a citizen of the world?
