Description of Event:
This is an opportunity to serve lunch to residents of the Downtown Eastside community. The Social Justice Team is sponsoring a meal that will feed 150-200 and the team needs UCV volunteers to serve lunch from the food truck. First United will prepare the food and we will serve the food and clean up the dishes. The time commitment is 3 hours.
We will meet at 360 Jackson Street to meet the First United staff and be instructed in how to serve the food. We will then walk (4 minutes) to Gore and Hastings where we will serve the food from the truck. Cleanup will be finished by 2pm.
The closest bus stop to 360 Jackson is bus stop #50936 and is served by buses 14, 16 and 20 . Another bus stop, #50426, is one block away from 360 Jackson and is served by buses 4 and 7.
The food truck will be located near the intersection of Gore and Hastings.

The Social Justice team has funds to cover the cost of sponsoring the meal and hopes to be able to sponsors several meals in 2023 and 2024, so if you aren’t able to volunteer on April 14th, please send us your name and we will be in touch for future meals.
