UCV’s IPA Team (IBPOC Plus Allies) is organizing to host a new program for 2023, entitled: “Cultural Connections”
Its inaugural event will be a Lunar New Year celebration Saturday January 21, 5-8 pm, at Hewett Centre on UCV campus (949 W. 49th Ave).
We’re partnering with UCV’s Younger-ish group and Messy Church group, which organizes family-friendly potluck events.
As you can see, this cultural event is about celebrating our racial and ethnic/cultural traditions, but also about connecting inter generationally.
Lunar new year is being observed across many cultures in Asia, Middle East, and Indigenous communities, so this evening is all about encouraging sharing of different and diverse heritages, stories, music, dance, games and food.
For Food, we plan to offer a sushi and dumplings making demo. The evening will also feature participatory dance, singing and games etc., all for the fun of our cultural sharing and connecting!
This program is open to all in UCV friends and families – newcomers welcome!
And we welcome ideas for subsequent monthly events to be organized and offered.
