“being ñ” – 37 Minutes About Latino Identity
The film documents one Latina’s efforts to manifest a modern day social movement while simultaneously triggering a cultural awakening.
“being ñ” is a film about what it’s like growing up in America having to navigate through two sets of cultural waters and figure out how they work together and as one. It’s a film that candidly shares what it’s like to grow up in the “in between” – this is the place we call “ñ.” Just bringing up this topic “ni de aquí, ni de allá” alone is often enough to spark rich conversations and storytelling that have the power to connect people in such a deep way. We know that people want to share their stories. They want to be known and accepted for who they are. This film accelerates that process and jumpstarts those conversations. Background: I brought this project to my Producing partner Henry Ansbacher almost 4 years ago. He’s a veteran filmmaker with several Emmy’s and a recent Oscar nomination. He immediately saw the universal appeal in this message and the need for it in the world. I’m a first time Latina filmmaker with a crazy work ethic and a track record of success as an entrepreneur and speaker. Together, we’ve created a 37 minute film that has and will transform lives.
Then convene with members of the IBPOC Plus Allies Group on Friday, October 15 on Zoom for a discussion of the themes and issues raised.
