IMDB calls it:
A comic look at the fall of the Berlin Wall in November of 1989, told from the point of view of the German border guards at the checkpoint where it all started.
Five years ago during the celebration of the twenty fifth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, a movie was made in Germany about that event. It focuses entirely on what happened on the night of November 9th 1989 at the border crossing from East Berlin into West Berlin called Bornholmer Street. It tells the true story of that night with a blend of humour, pathos, drama and farce that is truly marvelous.
Because he could not share this wonderful movie with family and friends, Hans searched the Internet regularly looking for any sign that someone somewhere might have released English subtitles for it.
For three years there was nothing . Then two years ago he suddenly found himself in Russia with time on his hands . So he started writing those subtitles himself. Now it’s done and he’d love to share this movie with anyone interested. The ninth of November is coming up on the 30th anniversary so it seems like an appropriate time to show that movie.
We are planning an afternoon showing of the film with potluck dinner conversation afterwards.
