Active Hope Through the Work that Reconnects

Saturday, January 7, from 10 am to 3 pm in Fireside

“To be alive in this beautiful, self-organizing universe- to participate in the dance of life with senses to perceive it, lungs that breathe it, organs that draw nourishment from it- is a wonder beyond words.” ~ Joanna Macy

The Covid-19 hang over and the climate emergency may be some of the issues weighing you down. But “the sorrow, grief, and rage you feel is a measure of your humanity. As your heart breaks open there will be room for the whole world to heal,” says Work That Reconnects founder Joanna Macy.

In this one-day workshop, participants will be taken on a journey into the spiral. Moving through gratitude, our pain for the world, seeing with new & ancient eyes, and going forth, the session will introduce concepts and practices to help us realize that we are stronger, more creative and deeply connected than we knew, transforming despair and overwhelm into inspired, collaborative action.

Facilitator Sarah Murray has been using elements of the Work That Reconnects in her fashion classrooms and in workshops for staff at Vancovuer Community College. She is part of the coordinating team at Protect the Planet and is working on a book called Love Marketing: fashion marketing for a life sustaining society. She has one daughter and married Gaia in 2019 to solidify her commitment to loving planet earth.

Cost: $20 include lunch with a portion donated to Protect the Planet

Please RSVP by December 29 to Catherine Hembling:
