Amnesty International’s “Write for Rights”

Wed, Dec 9, 2020 7:00 pm

Guest speaker: Yvonne Marcus, UCV member and activist

Your words can change lives! For International Human Rights Day on December 10th, Amnesty International hosts a “Write for Rights” campaign mobilizing millions of people around the world. The main goal is to use the power of letter-writing to influence world leaders to protect individuals or communities whose human rights have been denied. The messages help convince government officials to release people imprisoned for expressing their opinion, stop the use of torture and end other human rights abuses. Yvonne Marcus hosted information sessions for us in the Fireside Room in the past, now on Zoom. She’ll share her experiences and will let us know how we can participate this year.

Wednesday, December 9, 7 -8 pm
