Westside Unitarians Civil Liberties Discussion
Tue, Jan 23, 2018
2:30 pm - 5:00 pm
Kitsilano Private Home
We usually meet on the afternoon of the 4th Tuesday in one of our Unitarian members’ homes on the westside of Vancouver.
This month we’re meeting at Melody’s home for a discussion of BC Civil Liberties Association. RSVP to Melody. so we can have enough chairs and snacks for everyone.
(Sorry, space is not accessible for wheelchairs and scooters).
Melody will be leading a discussion of the work of the BC Civil Liberties Assoc (BCCLA), focusing on:
(i) the latest court ruling on solitary confinement in Canada,
(ii) a quick update on trying to get anti-SLAAP (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) legislation enacted in BC, and
(iii) the fight for protection of Canadians’ privacy from the Government’s CSE (Communications Security Establishment) which keeps more of us under surveillance, tracks more of us, and extracts more personal information about us from various sources than ever before.
There’s an email group members who live in Vancouver’s westside can join. We expect there will also be fairly spontaneous invitations. The monthly gathering will be focused on a topic of interest to the group. Usually the host and the moderator will be different people.
Please contact the UCV Connect & Engage team by email if you’d like to be added to our email group.
