Labyrinth (Fremlin Street entrance)
Sunday October 21 1 – 3 pm
Labyrinth and Herb Tea Party
Thanks to a Neighbourhood Small Grant from the Vancouver Foundation administered by the South Vancouver Neighbourhood House, we offer this free event to all our neighbours and friends.
Come to the garden path labyrinth on the Fremlin side of the Unitarian Centre property (one east of Oak) at 49th (North side).
We will offer you some mint or sage teas to enjoy along with some finger food snacks.
Sandy will teach how to braid day lily leaves and incorporate flowers and herbs for a decorative piece to hang in your yard or home.
Mary will introduce you to the many herbs planted in the labyrinth–yours for the picking–and demonstrate how to start a sage plant from a cutting. We will provide some pots, soil and the cuttings and rooting hormone. There are four kinds of sage available.
Do you have some plants that need dividing and you’d like to offer to your neighbours? Conversely, are you new to gardening and would like to try out some plants risk free? We’ll have a “bring a plant/ take a plant” table for exchanges. Seeds to share are also welcome. If you happen to have succulents such as hens and chicks or ground-cover thyme (wooly or creeping) to share, we’d love to add some to the centre of our courtyard labyrinth.
Coral will be helping serve tea and refreshments.
Both Coral and Mary would be happy to talk to you about labyrinth walking as a meditation practice. We will have a selection of books about labyrinths for you to browse at.
All ages and stages welcome.
If the weather is too wet and cold, we’ll meet in Lindsey-Priestley – first room to your right as you enter the hall.
