Sacred Circle Dance - Going Deeper - a workshop for facilitators

Sun, Apr 29, 2018 2:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Fireside Room and Hall

Celebrate International Dance Day with us.

This event is for experienced circle dancers who want to go deeper with sacred circle dance.

Encouragement and support from experienced facilitators will help you choose a dance (or let it choose you) as your own and share it with others.

Potluck dinner with table topics of interest to participants.

After dinner, we will do some of the more challenging dances we don’t often do at our regular gatherings.

RSVP here with any or all of the three segments.

2 – 3 pm Fireside Room – How and Why to Facilitate Dances

Panel of dance facilitators sharing their views on why and how to start facilitating circle dance.

Panel includes Corinne Chepil, Darlene Rainbow, Mary Bennett and others

3 – 5 pm Hall – Learning to Facilitate Your Dance

A coaching session for those who are stepping up to “adopt a dance” to share with others. We’ll help new facilitators learn the dance well and get support on ways to effectively teach it to others. We will likely dance each dance three or four times. Depending on numbers we may separate into smaller groups and then reconvene to dance together.

5 – 6:30 pm Potluck dinner with table topics

If there are topics you’d like to have discussed please send to Mary

6:30 – 9 pm More challenging dances

Mairy Beam will be the Dance Weaver for this session. It’s a chance for experienced dancers to try more complex dances that we don’t often do in our regular circles. All are welcome to try it out. Less experienced dancers might want to sit some out and observe or stand back from the circle and follow the steps of the person in front. If you have an offering or a request (either a specific dance or a kind of dance) please send to Mairy.
